Chẩn loại. Cơ thể có hình bầu dục rộng; vây đuôi có một cặp đốm đen nằm giữa tia vây thứ ba và thứ tư tính từ tia trên cùng và dưới cùng của vây; vây ngực ở phía có mắt không kéo dài, chiều dài không có sự khác biệt giữa các giới tính; lược mang rất ngắn, không có răng cưa.
