Phân bố tại thềm lục địa trên các nền đáy cát và bùn. Xuất hiện ở hạ lưu các con sông lớn và vùng cửa sông (Ref. 12693, 48637). Thức ăn chủ yếu gồm động vật không xương sống tầng đáy. Được thương mại dưới dạng cá tươi, cá đông lạnh hoặc phơi khô ướp muối trên thị trường (Ref. 6806).

Cá con sử dụng các khu rừng ngập mặn làm bãi giống. Cá trưởng thành phân bố ở độ sâu tới 140 m trên thềm lục địa; cá con xuất hiện ở vùng nước đục và ưa thích nền đáy bùn (Ref. 43081). Sống vùi mình trong các chất nền đáy bùn và cát. Có tập tính di cư vào vùng nước lợ. Thức ăn bao gồm động vật không xương sống tầng đáy, tôm, cua và giun biển (Ref. 9773).
