Phân bố từ vùng gần bờ đến độ sâu 100 m (Ref. 4315), trên nền đáy cát hoặc bùn. Ấu trùng và cá con hiếm khi di chuyển vào các khu vực rừng ngập mặn, đặc biệt là phần hạ lưu (Ref. 43081). Là loài ăn thịt, thức ăn chủ yếu gồm cá, tôm và các sinh vật đáy (Ref. 43081).
