Cá trưởng thành sinh sống tại các đầm phá và vùng sườn ngoài rạn san hô. Loài này đẻ trứng, trứng có hình bầu dục (Ref. 240). Tập tính sinh sản đơn phối (Ref. 52884), hình thành cặp đôi rõ rệt trong mùa sinh sản (Ref. 205). Trứng thuộc dạng trứng đáy, bám chặt vào giá thể (Ref. 205). Cá đực có tập tính bảo vệ và quạt nước cho trứng (Ref. 205). Loài này cộng sinh với các loài hải quỳ: Entacmaea quadricolor, Heteractis aurora, Heteractis crispa, Heteractis magnifica và Stichodactyla gigantea (Ref. 5911). Đã được nuôi thành công trong môi trường nhân tạo (Ref. 35428).

Adults inhabit lagoons and outer reefs. Oviparous, with elliptical eggs (Ref. 240). Monogamous (Ref. 52884). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Trong một thí nghiệm thực địa, một cá thể đực chức năng đã bắt đầu đẻ trứng sau 26 ngày kể từ khi cá cái bị loại bỏ khỏi khu vực (Ref. 240, 32167).
