Là loài cá ăn thịt chậm chạp, thường ẩn nấp bên dưới các khối san hô và gờ đá ở cả vùng nông quanh rạn giữa các đảo lẫn rạn san hô hướng biển. Chúng nằm bất động để chờ cá và động vật không xương sống bơi lại gần đủ tầm để bắt mồi (Ref. 275).
