Sinh sống ở các nền đáy cát bùn hoặc bùn (Ref. 3132, 48637). Thức ăn chuyên ăn các loài động vật đáy (Ref. 9792). Khi bị đe dọa, loài cá này thường búng các tia vây lưng dài ở phía trước đầu, tạo hình ảnh trông rất giống những sợi dính do hải sâm (holothurian) tiết ra khi bị quấy rầy (Ref. 48637).
