Mô tả: Cơ thể thon dài vừa phải, dẹp bên mạnh, hồ sơ đầu từ phía trên mắt đến gốc gai vây lưng thứ nhất từ hơi lồi đến thẳng; da dày vừa phải với các vảy nhỏ, mỗi vảy có các gai nhỏ đứng tạo nên bề mặt nhám như da cá nhám; miệng nhỏ, mút, mõm nhọn vừa phải; có năm gai vây lưng; màng vây lưng trước màu đen, màng vây lưng gai rất sẫm màu giữa gai thứ nhất và thứ ba, sẫm màu tương tự giữa gai thứ ba và thứ năm; cuống đuôi thon lại rõ rệt, bề ngang rộng hơn bề sâu.
