Là loài tương đối hiếm, sinh sống ở các đầm phá và rạn san hô hướng biển (Ref. 9710). Thường ưa thích các rạn đá và có xu hướng tránh san hô cứng. Sống ở vùng ven bờ, đôi khi xuất hiện ở các vùng sóng vỗ mạnh trong các khe nứt hẹp, hoặc dọc theo các bức tường đá trong các hang động nhỏ (Ref. 48635). Thường ẩn nấp dưới các gờ đá vào ban ngày (Ref. 9710). Thức ăn chuyên là các loài cua và tôm nhỏ. Có khả năng gây ra vết chích đau đớn. Độ sâu tối thiểu được ghi nhận theo Ref. 30874.
