Body elongated with broad head; dorsal profile convex; prickles cover extend from interorbital space to origin of dorsal fin and from below anterior margin of eye to front of anus; eyes are large and rounded with free orbital margin on lower side; interorbital space is broad with flat nasal organ and a short papilla with 2 large openings. Mô tả loài. Số tia vây lưng (tổng số): 11 – 12; Số tia vây ngực mềm: 17 – 18; Số tia vây hậu môn mềm: 10 – 11; Số tia vây đuôi mềm: 8 – 9. Cơ thể thon dài với phần đầu rộng; đường viền lưng cong lồi; các gai nhỏ bao phủ kéo dài từ khoảng gian ổ mắt đến gốc vây lưng và từ phía dưới mép trước của mắt đến phía trước hậu môn; mắt lớn và tròn với mép ổ mắt tự do ở phía dưới; khoảng gian ổ mắt rộng với cơ quan mũi phẳng và một nhú ngắn có 2 lỗ lớn. Có một nếp da hoặc gờ sống lưng kéo dài từ phía dưới miệng đến giữa gốc vây đuôi; vây lưng và vây hậu môn nằm lùi về phía sau cơ thể; gốc vây hậu môn nằm phía dưới vùng trước của vây lưng; vây đuôi hình trăng lưỡi liềm và cuống đuôi dẹp bên, cao hơn rộng.
