Habitat: Neritic, Coral reefs, Benthic, Soft bottom, Mud. Feeding: hunting macrofauna (predator). Depth range: 20 - 27 m. Inhabits shallow coastal waters. Dwells in muddy and sandy substrates where it buries itself underneath, leaving only its eyes exposed. Ambush predator. Feeds on worms, crabs, shrimp, and small fish. Larvae resemble regular fishes. Changes that occur as it transforms into its benthic adult stage include swimming with its left side facing upwards, color fading from its right side, and twisting of the skull (Ref. 9773). Sinh sống ở vùng nước ven bờ nông. Cư trú tại các nền đáy bùn và cát, nơi chúng vùi mình xuống dưới, chỉ để lộ đôi mắt. Là loài săn mồi kiểu mai phục. Thức ăn bao gồm giun, cua, tôm và cá nhỏ. Ấu trùng có hình thái giống cá thông thường. Các biến đổi diễn ra khi chuyển hóa sang giai đoạn trưởng thành sống ở tầng đáy bao gồm bơi với phần thân bên trái hướng lên trên, phai màu ở phần thân bên phải và sự vặn xoắn của hộp sọ (Ref. 9773). Phân bố tại các ngư trường kéo lưới nền bùn và cát của thềm lục địa. Thức ăn chủ yếu gồm các sinh vật đáy.
